Wow! Last week was crazy! Our new puppy, Tara, definitely took up all my time, but I think we're finally settling into a routine now. I'm slowly getting better at managing my time and tackling my 'To Do' list while she's napping. It's probably good for me! Now, I just need to stop going back to sleep when I wake up to feed the dogs!
Has anyone else read The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod? If you haven't, I highly recommend finding it at your local library or bookstore. The premise is all about creating a successful morning routine that focuses on gratitude and productivity. Technically, Elrod states it could be done anytime during the day, but the two weeks I made myself get up an hour before I normally would were much different compared to the last two weeks where I tried to do my routine in the evening.
My goal for this week is to try and restart my habit of focusing on my Miracle Morning actually in the morning. Personally, I like to journal my routine. I start out with a prayer, and if I start right when I feed the dogs it's also when the sun rises which really is a beautiful way to start the day. That's followed by writing two reflections in my gratitude log, reciting my affirmations (something I used to think was ridiculously cheesy, but now I'm starting to appreciate them!) , and exercise. When the weather is warmer, I take Zonda for a walk. Lately it's been absolutely freezing, so I've been trying to do either five minutes of ab work or ten minutes on the elliptical. Finally, I make a cup of tea and sit down to do my Bible study.
Some mornings I vary my routine and the order I follow, but I can definitely tell a difference when I start my day with the Miracle Morning. Elrod also discusses the six minute morning routine for when your day is absolutely crazy. Either way, if this sounds interesting to you- check it out! Now, I just have to figure out how to incorporate a playful puppy into my Miracle Morning, and I'll be set!
Do you have a specific morning routine you follow? Do you find your day flows better when you stick to it?
What else happened this week?
- My little sister and I went to see The Book of Mormon at the fabulous Fox Theatre and it was hilarious! It's completely irreverent and awful, but totally one of the funniest musicals I've ever seen, if you can get past the language and inappropriate content!
- My husband and I finally saw The Martian, and we loved it! I have a slight obsession for any space related movie or thing, really. Matt Damon was wonderful, and yay space! It reminded me of my childhood intensity over Apollo 13 and Rocketman. Basically, I wanted to either be an astronaut or a stormchaser throughout most of my childhood.
